Quick summary
There can only be one. Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary: The Crystal Edition — a 16-track series-spanning album that's out in January. Hold on, 16 tracks? Is that all? Yep, it's made up of just one track per mainline Final Fantasy game.

What we know so far
Automatic note by LuaCat Games, built from what we know about the coverage (who reported it, how many sites, the story’s history) — not a translation or copy of the source.
This comes from Push Square, which does its own reporting — for now, it's the only coverage. Some people met Final Fantasy in 1987; others were born long after and joined in anyway. The previous Final Fantasy trailer came out 39 days before this story.
Bottom line: Safe to take the main point — it's the fine detail that sometimes shifts later.
